Greetings my dear readers. I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Our feeders had a little extra grain in them last week, for which we were very thankful.
With the arena not being used for sessions with the children until next year, I have taken the liberty of using my skills in Feng Shui (of which I am a certified master) to rearrange things. The arena was out of balance, so I sought to restore it to its proper order.
I began by moving the mounting block closer to the gate. Some of the ranch hands thought that I was doing this to make an escape route, but I was simply balancing the energies of wind and water in the placement of arena furniture. This is also why I continually knock over the orange cones — they totally work against the ambience that I am trying to establish.
The same principle applies to the halter ropes and hooks hanging on the fence. Their placement throws off the Feng Shui of the arena. I simply had to remove them in order to restore balance to the ranch.
I like what I have done with the place (as well as the Feng Shui in my own paddock). The next time that you visit the ranch, I’m sure that you will notice the difference. You’ll be refreshed by simply setting foot on the property. I am available for private consultations (at my standard fee, of course) if your home needs rebalancing.
And speaking of my paddock, I am not pleased with its lack of open access. I used to be able to sneak out the back gate by playing with the latch and wandering freely into the pasture. Now it is triple bolted. What I would give for an opposable thumb! Apart from possible violations of the Horse Fire Code (locking an emergency exit is an obvious violation), I now have to whine and beg ranch hands to let me out.
I almost got one volunteer to liberate me by affectionately nuzzling her while she was cleaning my paddock, and then tapping on the latch with my mouth. It almost worked! Alas, she was immune to my charms. She saw through my hidden agenda and left the gate locked.
Last week I sent out a news flash about horse sponsorship as part of Giving Tuesday at Mercy Spring Ranch. We still have one more day before this big event. Some folks may want to work together to sponsor a horse. Others may want to simply make a one-time gift of any amount. The herd appreciates your generosity as we serve the children at the ranch.
Well, that’s all for this week. I hope you all stay safe during this holiday season.
Happy Trails,
