Greetings my faithful readers. It is time to take another trot through the world that is Mercy Spring Ranch.
With the children on break from sessions, I find myself having more time for personal reflection and creative pursuits. I also have more time for personal reading, as you can see from the photo below:
It is important for me to model good reading habits for the children. There is so much for them to learn outside of the ranch, so I take every opportunity to encourage them to read as much as they can. Being good readers will take them far in life.
I also want to do my part to support literacy around the world. To that end, I have begun work on the next great American novel! It promises to become a classic in the genre of Equine Fiction.
My agent has asked that I don’t publish too many spoilers before the book is released; but my fans are chomping at the bit (a little horse humor) about it, so here is a short synopsis.
The story is about a humble horse who spends his days in relative obscurity, ministering to children on a simple ranch. Sadly he is being underfed, and intensely feels hunger pains as he tries to find the strength to serve the children each day.
Despite this adversity, he rises above his circumstances to triumph in the fields of music, art, and literature to influence the world for good. Many lives will be transformed because of the ministry of this one horse. (It’s sounding more like an autobiography than a novel!).
There is drama, romance, action, and moments of comic relief. It’s a heart-warming story that will appeal to readers of all ages. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and then you will want to buy copies for everyone you know! Negotiations are already underway with various movie studios for the rights to produce it. Word on the street is that it will be up for an Oscar or two (assuming that it does not automatically sweep every film category on awards night)!
The ranch continues to deal with Pigeon Fever. First it was Ladyhawke, who continues to slowly recover. Now it is Connor who has come down with this nasty bug. He too is under quarantine. Miss Mo has her hands full taking care of them.
I now have to spend my time alone in the arena, waiting for my two friends to get better. It makes me appreciate the fun times we had together when they were healthy. Please contine to pray for both of the horses, as well as Miss Mo as she cares for their needs.
Christmas is fast approaching. There are still a lot of potential presents available for purchase in the MSR merch store:

It’s a great opportunity to give the Gift of Gimli to your family and friends.
I hope you all stay warm and dry this Christmas season!
Happy Trails,
