Hello again dear friends, and welcome to another installment of my reflections on life here at Mercy Spring Ranch (MSR).
It was quite the weekend, as volunteers from all over the area came by to help dig out trenches and allow for better water flow on the ranch. We may even get access to fresh water at the arena without the staff having to drag a hose our way! Under my expert supervision, the work got done efficiently and up to code.
Thank you to everyone who was able to come out and help with this important project. The ranch posted lots of pictures on Facebook of these hard workers. Their efforts will pay off for the ranch over many years to come.
Things are starting to get back to normal at MSR. Connor is feeling much better, so he has joined me in the arena for our usual fun and games. He told me that it was strange being away from me for so long. The separation was done to keep all of us healthy.
Ladyhawke is still dealing with pigeon fever. I am concerned for her emotional health, in addition to her physical well-being. I know that she likes being the leader of the herd, but she has to stay isolated until she has fully recovered. While Connor and I have been enjoying our bro time, it’s not the same without Hawke hanging out with us in the pasture. Please pray that she will be feeling better soon.
Even though we are in the midst of winter, folks are starting to think about spring planting and tomatoes. The MSR tomato list for plant orders is due out on February 1st. Be sure to get your requests in early.
Volunteers do a lot of important tasks on the ranch. Not everyone feels comfortable working with horses. For those with a green thumb (or who want to develop one), help is always appreciated with the gardening. Tomatoes will not grow by themselves. If you would like to help with our horticulture, please speak with Miss Mo.
I myself am not a big fan of tomatoes. I give them one sniff and turn away to find better munchies. Besides, they are not good for horses! I will admit that I enjoy squishing them under my hooves when they fall on the ground, but they will never pass between my lips. I personally would support the planting of more carrots on the ranch!
Well, that’s all for this week. It was good to see many of my friends last Saturday. If you do come by the ranch, be sure to stop by for a selfie. It will only increase in value with the passing of time, as will I!
Happy Trails,
