Hello again, my dear friends. It’s time once again for me to share tales of high adventure from my observation post here at Mercy Spring Ranch.
As I mentioned last week, we hope to soon have a goat on the ranch. This will be a companion for Noel, a lamb that we hope to adopt soon.
The response to the GO(at) FUND ME campaign has been overwhelming! We are looking at this weekend for when we can get a baby Nigerian Dwarf goat. We are hoping that Noel and this new goat will get along with each other.
Ladyhawke is still a matter of prayer concern. She is scheduled for an appointment with the doctor today. This pigeon fever has gone on for much too long. We are praying that the medical staff will find a treatment that will get Hawke back on the road to recovery.
I will admit that I freak out a bit whenever Ladyhawke is away from the ranch. The place just isn’t the same without her! It is even more painful that she will be gone the day before Valentine’s Day (I had big plans!). I have been known to howl a bit to vent my distress when she is not around. I know that she can hear me when I do this, and she will hurry back to be with me as soon as she can.
Time is important to a busy horse like me. I like to do things in an orderly fashion and keep to a tight schedule. That is why I gave Miss Mo the stink eye and pinned my ears last week when she attempted to wash and braid my tail before I had even finished with my breakfast.
WHAT NERVE!!! She knows that this is my regular nap time, to properly digest my morning meal. I am all for good grooming, but I need my beauty sleep as well (though folks tell me that I’m beautiful, even when I am running on fumes).
I am not making this precise schedule up just to impress you (not that I would need to). If you are on the ranch around 5pm, you will see me start up a game of Ball Roll with Connor. I do this every day like clockwork (you can set your watch by it!). Connor always runs in terror when I nudge the Ball of Death his way, but it is good exercise for both of us before our evening meal. I eat better after a good workout!
I am excited for March 4th, when the call-in for session registration begins. The first Saturday in March of 2023 should be on all of your calendars if you want to get your children registered for session time at the ranch. See — it pays to be organized and work off of a schedule. Everyone should strive to be more like me!
Well that’s all for this week. Spring will be here before we know it, and the voices of children will soon fill the ranch. Thanks to everyone who helped out last Saturday on volunteer projects at the ranch. If you could not make it, we will be doing it again this Saturday (February 18th). See the MSR Facebook page for details.
Happy Trails,
