Hello my faithful readers. You have found your way to the Gimli Gazette — your one-stop shopping venue for all things Gimli at Mercy Spring Ranch.
The big story these past two weeks has been the weather. Three of our four greenhouses blew over in the storm. Fortunately the one with the tomato plants is still standing.
Poor Noel (our new lamb) had her house flooded. Alas, Nutmeg was not comfortable sharing her quarters with a lamb (goats can be that way). Mr. John was able to get Noel a new home, so all is well with our newest lamb.
Even in the rainstorm, our volunteer crew showed up to do Poop Patrol and take care of the fallen greenhouses on the ranch. They say that only Mad Dogs and Englishmen would go out on a day like that, but somehow the Poop Patrol found the strength (and good raincoats) to do so. I took the opportunity to enjoy a nice nap in my dry paddock while the repair work proceeded.
I spent most of my time these past two weeks in my paddock, riding out the storm. Connor and I were not able to spend our usual amount of time frolicking out in the arena. There is a Death Ball (as I like to call it) with Connor’s name on it that I will push his way when we return. I do not understand why he fears this ball so much.
In fact, since March is birthday month on the ranch (Connor, myself, Miss Mo, and Ladyhawke), I may get Connor his own Ball of Death for his birthday. Perhaps I could get one with a remote control. Then I could toggle the ball from my paddock and make it chase Connor all around the arena. It may sound cruel, but the exercise will do the twenty-eight-year-old a lot of good.
Connor already got a shedding (to comb out excess hair) and a bunch of carrots for his birthday celebration. Some of the staff sang Happy Birthday to him. Based on their less than melodic performance, I will not be asking any of them to be backup vocalists on my next CD release.
My expectations for a birthday celebration are a bit larger. I have asked Mr. John to construct me a special storage facility on the ranch to store all the presents from my fans around the world.
Since my birthday is Monday, March 6th (I know that the date is already circled on your calendar, dear reader), the line of Amazon delivery trucks will probably start forming over the weekend. I am also registerd at all the five-star Tack Shops and Equine Door Dash services.
Tomorrow (March 4th) is the first day of call-in registration for the April-May session block of 2023. Our Facebook page has a link with lots of important information. Please check there first before calling, if you can. The phone lines open at 8am — first called, first served.
I know that you will join me in wishing Connor, Miss Mo, and Ladyhawke birthday wishes this March. I look forward to reading your comments online as each birthday is announced (as it was with Connor). Mercy Spring Ranch sure knows how to celebrate the births of its herd and staff.
Happy Trails,
Gimli March 3, 2023
