Hello my friends, and welcome to another installment of the Gimli Gazette, where the welcome mat is on display for truth, justice, and the Gimli way.
I begin this week with a letter from a young fan. She writes, “With your beauty, do you think that you should be on a magazine cover? If you couldn’t, would Ladyhawke be better than Connor?”
I must say that this young girl has great taste and discernment for beauty and the finer things in life! As for a magazine cover, I doubt that most publications could afford my sitting fees. Even though they would see a large increase in sales at the newsstands for any issue with my photo on it, I would still be out of their league.
Ladyhawke might be an affordable option, but they would know in their hearts that they were settling for second best, and should probably just drop the project. As for a cover with Connor, the only publication that I think would be interested in him would be Yak Weekly (given Connor’s wild hair and shedding issues). I appreciate your insightful question.
Since we are discussing public relations, I was wondering if I should write a YELP review for the food service here at Mercy Spring Ranch (MSR). The food selection is OK, but the portion size is terribly small. Service is slow (especially when I get no response to the banging of my feeder at 6am and 6pm), and I used to catch the waitress continually watering down my hay.
Given such poor service, I have refused to tip the wait staff. I have to give MSR only two stars out of five. They can do much better!
The reduction in portion size is so severe, that I have had to resort to sneaking some of Connor’s food when he isn’t looking. I have even been seen pulling hay from his mouth (Connor never saw me, because his Yak hair was covering his eyes). A horse has got to do what a horse has got to do in order to survive.
Some of you may have noticed the picture on Facebook last week of Miss Mo’s swelling hand. Things did not go well when she tried to sneak some medication into Ladyhawke’s mouth. For the record, Miss Mo has never experienced any scars from her interactions with yours truly. I guess this shows which horse at MSR is the best behaved.
Volunteers have been serving the past couple of Saturdays with gardening on the ranch. We appreciate their help, as well as their swinging by the arena after working to say hello to the herd. There is another chance to help with this project on Saturday, April 29th from 9am to Noon. If you are willing to work, we will train you! Newbies to gardening are welcome.
That’s all for this week. Judging by the smiles on the faces of all the children, sessions are going well. Please stop by and see me for a selfie if you are visiting the ranch.
Happy Trails,
Gimli April 24, 2023
