Greetings my friends, and welcome to another inspiring edition of the Gimli Gazette, where readers come for encouragement and insight to get them through their hectic lives.
Last Saturday was a wonderful day at the annual Heirloom Tomato Tasting event. The temperature was not too hot, the gentle breeze kept most of the flies away, and the ranch was filled with folks hoping to taste forty-three different varieties of tomatoes. And most of all, countless fans got to pose for selfies with their favorite Haflinger pony on the ranch.
I must say that the day was quite fun. In addition to tomato tasting, folks stopped to purchase plants, seeds, grapes, worms, sauces, and amazing lemonade. I listened in on the Garden Talk, which ended up lasting an hour with all of the good questions. Any inquiries which Miss Mo did not know the answer to got referred over to me. I have quite the green hoof when it comes to gardening. I may offer my own Paddock Talk next year, where I will explain the finer points of equine culture to a captive audience.
I drew a large crowd over at my paddock during the day. One young intern made the mistake of opening a package of cookies close to my mouth. Let’s just say that I almost had a special treat that day which would have kept me up all night on a sugar high!
I was surprised that the goats and the lamb were given special walking tours around the visitors to the ranch. I know that the horses are a lot bigger and require more effort to properly present to the public. But why offer second-tier animals when you can showcase quality horses for all to admire??! I will write a comment in the suggestion box requesting this change for next year.
Many thanks to all of the volunteers who helped set up and tear down the ranch for this big event. They were kept busy days before Saturday, as well as during the tomato tasting itself. We could not do all of this without you, and the herd appreciates your efforts on our behalf.
Well that’s all for this posting. It’s back to work with the children as the final session block of the year continues. I hope to see many of you again at the Ranch Family Dinner in October.
Happy Trails,
