Hello my friends, and welcome to another installment of the Gimli Gazette, where Goodness, Beauty, and Truth embrace to form the content of this blog.
Things were a little wild on the Mercy Spring Ranch (MSR) Facebook page last week, where comments were made saying that I have plenty of food and that I do not need anyone feeding me horse cookies.
I was curious that folks had not been sneaking me cookies, apples, and carrots when they visit me at my paddock. I finally discovered the reason for this snack void. There, next to my feeder (facing out so that I could not see it), was a sign asking folks not to feed the horses.
Let’s just say that the sign was not long for this world, once I discovered it! I ripped it off the feeder and trampled it all around the paddock floor. I heard the cheers from my fellow equine residents as I single-handedly lifted the ban on horse feeding. Let the treats now fill my paddock (and my stomach!).
There has been a change in the makeup of our MSR herd. Chloe has just announced her retirement. She is making her way to Reno, where she plans to live on a ranch (and possibly write her memoirs).
Chloe will be missed here at MSR. Many of the children bonded with her. I enjoyed her sense of humor, as well as her desire to play with the children. We all wish Chloe the best with her future plans.
The last session of 2023 is drawing to a close. Apart from the increase in mosquitoes, I really enjoyed all of the session blocks. I know that the children learned valuable life lessons while spending time with their favorite Haflinger pony. Many children wrote interesting questions which I answered on this blog. Their curiosity continues to bring me great joy!
I hope to see many of you at the upcoming Ranch Family Dinner on October 21st. I will be part of a special presentation that will push my acting career to whole new levels. I don’t want to give too much away. Let’s just say that everyone in the story seems lost and all hope is gone until yours truly enters the scene and saves the day. (In other words, just another day in the life of Gimli Black). You won’t want to miss it!
Before I leave, I must respond to some recent comments on the MSR Facebook page. In preparation for this MSR pageant, some wardrobe shenanigans went on. Costumes for the goats were put on me for comic effect, and pictures were taken. I was not amused.
As a professional wardrobe consultant, I was horrified when a Tutu was put on my head. Miss Mo tried to tell me that it was the latest in horse couture fly masks, but I was not buying it. You certainly won’t see me wearing such a monstrosity at Fashion Week!
My agent will have all these photos pulled off of Facebook soon. My attorney has already been contacted. This will not be pretty. (Of course, a case of horse cookies in my paddock will make this all go away!).
Well that’s it for this posting. The weather is finally cooling down, and the herd is going back to their regular routines in the pasture. Life is good here at Mercy Spring Ranch!
Happy Trails,
Gimli September 23, 2023
