Hello my friends, and welcome to another exciting edition of the Gimli Gazette, where I speak truth to power, and all the world is a better place from what is written in this space. Like I always say … “When I am inspired — I inspire!”
I have just completed the 2024 Horse Handler Training, with the help of my apprentice and minion Miss Mo. Eager students were enthralled by my every word as I took them through their paces in learning basic equine skills.
We began with a final review of horse grooming. I quietly wept for the students working on Connor, since there was still a lot of YAK hair that needed to be brushed away. My hooves still glowed brightly from their recent pedicure, so only a little touch-up was necessary. My coat was brilliant in the sunny sky, and many photos were taken to preserve the moment for eternity.
Then it was off to the Round Pen, where each of the students were able to work with me and Ladyhawke using simple commands. I was eager to Join-Up with each student after a few laps around the pen. I kept my eye on them at all times, even when I slipped away to nibble on a little grass or talk with my many fans watching from outside the gate.
There were even discussions on horse psychology. To know me is to love me, so I am glad that the students got to understand more about how horses think. While I do not expect humans to be able to compete on the intellectual level of a horse, it was good to see them make the attempt to speak our language.
I was pleased with how the whole day went. These graduates of the class are now equipped to tend to the needs of the herd. While I wished that Miss Mo would have added a module on the importance of always carrying horse cookies, the curriculum which I designed will serve the students well. They still have much to learn, but they are off to a good start.
I am liking the new lights that have been installed on the ranch. The safety factor for humans and horses alike has greatly improved. Even the goats and lamb feel more secure. Now I can stream midnight concerts for all the world to see.
There has been a lot of transplanting for the upcoming Heirloom Plant Sale. The ranch will soon be filled with tomatoes. I’ve seen folks passing out flyers and filling out order forms. Details are available on the MSR Facebook page.
Well that’s all for this posting. I hope you have survived the cold winter nights and are eager for spring to arrive. Call-in registration for the April-May session block is March 2nd, starting at 8am. I can’t wait for what 2024 will hold for all the children.
Happy Trails,
Gimli February 24, 2024
