Hello my friends, and welcome to another exciting edition of the Gimli Gazette, where I tear down strongholds that oppose the wonder and beauty of equine culture. Mine is a voice crying out in the wilderness, exposing falsehoods and proclaiming truth that flows freely from my keyboard and out into the world.
The big news last week was the successful Mercy Spring Ranch Family Dinner. This annual event brings families together whose children were a part of the many sessions in 2024. There was a lot of fun with games, crafts, horseback riding, and delicious food.
The highlight for me (and thus, for everyone) was the showcase event in the arena. Everyone got to see Gimli the Great (also referred to as Gimli the Good by the play’s narrator) be the star of the show once again. Children got to compete in Olympic-style events. Even the ranch critters got to take part in athletic competitions. The audience cheered as prizes were awarded to all the winners.
Just for dramatic effect, I was asked to play the role of a villain this year. Being a prankster is completely out of character for me in real life, but I dug deep into my acting skill set and made it believable. I was able to convince people that I could misbehave when interacting with others. It was a stretch, but all in a day’s work for me.
What did come naturally for me was being a corporate sponsor for Goat-I-Os and other food products. The food industry knows talent when they see it, so I proudly wore their signs during the contests (for a substantial fee, I might add). My professional modeling skills paid off, once again.
The evening concluded with the 2024 MSR video. It was great to see photos of the children and hear their comments about their year at the ranch. I don’t have to tell you which horse had the most photos included in the video montage. My favorite testimonial was one young girl saying, “I love riding Gimli because he is so beautiful!” Out of the mouths of babes!
Thanks to everyone who made this day so special. We could not have put on such an event without all of your efforts. You have helped make this year so special in the hearts of many children.
Happy Trails,
Gimli October 21, 2024
