Hello my friends, and welcome to another edition of the Gimli Gazette, where readers in search of wisdom come to be enlightened and to discover beauty & goodness pouring forth from the pen of your humble correspondent, Gimli Black.
Much has been going on at Mercy Spring Ranch (MSR) over the winter months. Almost every Saturday saw the ranch filled with wonderful volunteers working on projects to get the ranch ready for the new year. A lot of their energy was focused on getting the new greenhouse up and running. The concrete has finally been poured, so that project can proceed to the next stage. The paddocks were back-filled, the gardens were weeded, and the goat pen has never looked better. I am hoping that the next task will be the construction of a new spa for my personal use.
The big news is that Tater Tot is now an official member of the ranch herd. He has been a pet project of mine for the past few months. Not every animal is worthy of automatic admission to the ranch. My screening process is quite demanding. Tater showed real promise at last year’s Ranch Family Dinner, where he followed my lead and copied my every action. In the months that followed, he would sit at my feet and learn the Way of Gimli. He truly has been a fine disciple of mine. I am proud of his personal growth and choice of mentor.
The ranch is about to get busy again. The first Heirloom Tomato Plant Sale is scheduled for Saturday, March 15th from 9am to 1pm (with another one to follow on April 12th). It is a wonderful event with gardening tips and plenty of plants for purchase. It’s also a great excuse to visit me for a free selfie. For more information, go to the MSR Facebook page.
Our two mini horses (Tinkerbell and Barbie) are going on the road this Friday, February 21st to a local high school. They have done therapy work with humans in the past, so I know that they will be very comfortable interacting with the students. I realize that the high schoolers will be disappointed that I will not be going too (scheduling conflicts with my modeling career), but my two little friends will do a great job in my place.
Sessions with the children at the ranch will be starting soon. This is my favorite time of the year. I delight in letting them groom me, and sometimes I give them a ride around the arena. I always make time in my busy schedule to spend precious moments with the kiddos. Watch the MSR Facebook page for details on registration.
Well that’s all for this posting. I will be writing more once the sessions begin. The children love to write me questions that I answer on this blog. It’s my way of sharing the Joy of Gimli with my fans around the world. It is good to be Gimli Black!
Happy Trails,
Gimli February 18, 2025
