Hello my friends! It’s time for another installment of life at Mercy Spring Ranch, as seen through the eyes of yours truly.
I begin with two questions submitted in writing by a young woman on her recent visit to the ranch. She first wants to know, “What is your favorite fruit?”
Ahhh, it is hard to talk about food while I am still on my (cruel) diet, but here goes. Like most horses, I am a fan of apples (red or green, it does not matter). The crunch factor makes them fun to eat (like a large carrot).
But if I had to pick my favorite fruit, it would have to be the watermelon. They are so juicy and tasty. I do not mind the seeds, so I am happy to devour any that are put in front of me. (Now my stomach is growling with all of this food talk!).
The second question is an easy one — “What is your favorite color?” I don’t have to think twice about the answer. I love green, the color of grass. Did you know that grass is sweetest when the sun is out? It is so tasty when you can chew it at a relaxed pace. (Have you noticed that all of my answers end up as a discussion of food? Perhaps this is an early warning sign of slow starvation!).
And speaking of colors, the new sessions have begun, which means more interactions with the children. They love to paint me when they get the chance. I have attached a recent photo below. I may use it on the cover of my new CD. The working title is Paddock Punk, since Punk seems to be the closest musical style of my 3am improvisation on the percussive feeder. The colors in the photo have a punkish quality to them as well.
I also have recently developed a habit of chewing on ponytails (see the other two photos below). This was never an issue before, when I was properly fed! I take it as a compliment that humans are copying the hairstyles of ponys.
It’s time for me to take a call from my agent, so I will wrap this up for now. Thank you for your continued support of Mercy Spring Ranch. It is making a difference in the lives of children and families throughout our community.
Happy Trails,
